At 550m (1,800ft) above sea level Casa sul Monte sits high in the wooded hills of central Umbria with spectacular views over the Tiber valley to the Apennine ranges beyond. Surrounded by hectares of natural forests our home is perfectly located for endless walks through the dramatic landscape of this region while providing an ideal base from which to visit some of Italy's most beautiful medieval towns such as Perugia, Orvieto, Assisi and Todi - all less than one hour's drive away.

San Vito in Monte - a few minutes walk
Surprisingly, although surrounded by forests, Casa sul Monte also offers an ideal opportunity to experience first hand the day-to-day life of San Vito in Monte, a small rural community of central Umbria, where the long established Piccolo Mondo restaurant provides a warm welcome, good food and convivial meeting point for our guests and local villagers alike.
San Venanzo - 10-12 min. drive
A few minutes drive and only 12 kilometres away is San Venanzo, our nearest village, with a bank and ATM, Post Office, three bars, small supermarket, general store, pharmacy, burger bar and pizzeria, news agent, stationer and tobacconist as well as a hairdesser, petrol station, etc. This is also where the nearest Doctor's surgery and Police Station can be found.
How to get here
Use of your own car is essential to get to our location, access local shops and facilities and tour the surrounding areas. International car hire companies and excellent local ones are available throughout Italy, with pick-up and delivery points at most airports and stations.
